As many readers know, I have written two books about grief after losing my partner of 49 years.

My first book is titled, “Coping With Grief–My Personal Journey of Learning to Overcome Sorrow” This book is full of really powerful quotes to help people navigate the grief process. I read parts of it every week to help myself.

My second book is titled, “My Life After Loss–A Resource for Gay Men.” This book deals with many topics after the initial shock of losing a spouse. Topics like therapy, finances, dating, moving, holidays, forgiveness and perseverance. The book can aid both gay and straight people dealing with the sorrow of losing a spouse.

I was at a dinner party several months ago and we were discussing loss. A woman whose husband had died 14 years ago began crying. It just reminded me again that grief never ever really goes away completely. Another friend of mine still feels guilty about getting mad at his partner for having some accidents when he was undergoing chemotherapy. His partner has been gone for over 20 years; however, the guilt still lingers.

My books make wonderful heartfelt gifts for people who have experienced loss. It doesn’t matter if your friend or loved one died last month or twenty-five years ago. People still struggle, and my books help folks. It could be just one sentence, quote or thought that gives them some healing or peace. I encourage you to give some of your friends or family members a copy of either book. It just might be one of the most useful presents they ever get in their lives.
