Visit Greater Palm Springs Shines a Light on Local Wellness, a Stronger, More Connected Economy
Within Rancho Mirage and across the Valley, wellness is more than a trend, it’s a way of life.
This September, residents and visitors alike are invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse themselves in one of the most revitalizing experiences the desert has to offer: Spa Month.
Hosted by Visit Greater Palm Springs (VGPS), Spa Month is more than just a collection of luxurious treatments, it is a community-wide invitation to reconnect with self-care, support local businesses, and take part in the growing wellness identity of our region.
“Even people who grew up here may not know about a lot of the off-the-beaten- path things that make this area so special,” says Davis Meyer, Vice President of Government & Industry Relations at VGPS. “Spa Month is a great way to explore what’s in our own backyard.”
Rancho Mirage at the Heart of the First Spa Month
This September marks the first-ever Visit Greater Palm Springs Spa Month. In Rancho Mirage, offerings include a $59 day pass at Sunstone Spa at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa, while The Ritz-Carlton Spa is offering 20% off its 100-minute Cleansing Body Sculpt Treatment. These are just a few of the many offers available in Rancho Mirage and beyond this exclusive September, bringing world-class wellness within easier reach for locals and visitors alike.
Spa Month was also designed to be the ultimate staycation, a chance for residents to experience the same top-tier treatments and facilities that attract travelers from around the globe. With around 80 spa deals and wellness packages available locally, they range from full spa-and-stay packages to single-treatment discounts and day passes. It’s an opportunity to discover something new, whether that’s a trusted neighborhood spa or a luxury resort you’ve yet to visit.
This impact goes far beyond personal relaxation. Every booking helps keep dollars in the local economy, supporting hospitality jobs, small-business owners, and the wellness professionals who make our region unique. “We want residents to see this as their month,” Meyer explains. “It’s about taking care of yourself while also strengthening the community we all share.”
As Meyer points out, initiatives like Spa Month are part of a larger VGPS mission , one that extends beyond tourism to include economic development, workforce training, and inclusive growth. From hospitality skill-building to sustainability programs and partnerships that support local charities, VGPS is working to ensure that the benefits of tourism reach residents in meaningful ways.
The Wellness Trend: Mindful and Meaningful
From mineral soaks and massage therapies to emerging trends like sound baths and full-moon meditations, Greater Palm Springs is embracing a more holistic definition of wellness. “We’re seeing a shift toward mindfulness,” Meyer says. “People are looking for experiences that help them connect, reflect, and recharge. And our region is perfectly suited for that — with our natural hot springs, hiking trails, and serene mountain vistas.”
With more than 40 spas participating and growing local interest, VGPS hopes to make Spa Month an annual tradition. “This is just the beginning,” Meyer adds. “We’d love to see seasonal residents return earlier in the year, and for locals to continue supporting these businesses well beyond September.”
So whether you’re planning a personal retreat, gathering a group of friends, or simply craving a few quiet hours to yourself, consider this your invitation: Greater Palm Springs Spa Month is here, and it’s never been a better time to relax, recharge, and rediscover the joy of living in this beautiful desert oasis.
