Neighbors Safety, and Camaraderie: Celebrating National Night Out

Join the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside County Fire/Cal Fire for National Night Out on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Rancho Mirage Community Park. This annual event brings neighbors, law enforcement, and emergency personnel together to strengthen community ties, foster trust, and promote safer, more connected neighborhoods.

First launched in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), National Night Out was created by founder Matt Peskin as a way to encourage community engagement and crime prevention through strong police-community partnerships. What began with 2.5 million participants in 400 communities has grown into a nationwide initiative reaching millions across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases around the world.

National Night Out continues to play a vital role in building safer, more unified communities. It’s a celebration of collaboration between residents and those who serve and protect them.

This year’s event in Rancho Mirage will feature:

  • Meet-and-greets with local deputies, firefighters, and emergency services teams
  • Interactive demonstrations from the SWAT, K-9, Aviation, and Bomb Squad units
  • Informational booths on home safety, cybersecurity, and emergency preparedness
  • Family-friendly fun including bounce houses, face painting, a DJ, food trucks, caricature artists, and more

Mark your calendars and come enjoy a night of fun, learning, and connection with your Rancho Mirage community!
