When Annabella is mysteriously murdered, Hannay becomes a fugitive, on the run from both the police and a sinister spy ring called The 39 Steps. His madcap journey takes him through train chases, high-stakes encounters, and unlikely escapes, including a harrowing plane crash and plenty of romantic entanglements.
