What is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Let’s Find Out…

Written by Joanna Gebhart, Licensed Insurance Agent

Do you currently have a Medicare Advantage Plan but would like the flexibility of seeing doctors outside of the Plans contracted doctors? Do you have Original Medicare with a Supplement Plan and are concerned that the increased monthly premiums are too expensive? If this is a concern, you might consider moving to a PPO.

A PPO plan is a Medicare Advantage Plan which is not limited to a specific Medical Group’s doctors. PPOs provide you with the flexibility of seeing any doctor who accepts Medicare patients. There are a few exceptions, however, a PPO provides a much broader pool of doctors and specialists to choose from. Most PPO’s include Part D.

While this is a great option, the decision to change must be carefully reviewed. The PPO provides a larger range of doctors, but also comes with additional costs. If you would like to review this option, we still have Special Election Periods (SEP) that make it possible to change prior to Annual Enrollment, which starts in October.

Please contact me to discuss and book a review appointment. I would appreciate the opportunity to become your local Medicare Broker.

As your Agent, I will work diligently to ensure we review options and make the best decision for your situation. Call me with any questions about medicare: 760-218-2980
