Dr. Effuah Harris, Clinical Director of WesternU Health Rancho Mirage (We Care Dental), has built her career around one simple passion: making people smile. With over four decades of professional experience, Dr. Harris brings a wealth of knowledge and a global perspective to her role.
After spending 15 years practicing as a general dentist and oral surgeon in Germany, Dr. Harris earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1996. She then continued to practice general dentistry for another 15 years before joining Western University of Health Sciences in 2011. There, she transitioned into dental education, mentoring and shaping the next generation of dental professionals. In August 2024, Dr. Harris joined We Care Dental, combining her extensive clinical expertise with her dedication to teaching.
We Care Dental operates under the umbrella of WesternU Health, embodying a humanistic approach grounded in two core principles: exceptional patient care, and quality education. “One of the most extraordinary aspects of We Care Dental isn’t just our name,” Dr. Harris explains. “It represents the entire legacy of compassion and excellence at WesternU Health.”
The clinic’s mission is clear—to provide high-quality dental care at an affordable cost. “Our prices are about 50% less than most private offices,” notes Dr. Harris. While procedures may take longer in a student-centered environment, patients benefit from the close supervision of experienced faculty members such as Dr. Harris and Assistant Professor Dr. Talal Elkyhat, who ensure every treatment meets the highest professional standards.
Founded in 2009 by Marianne and Russell Benson, We Care Dental began as a non-profit organization dedicated to serving patients with special needs. Through the Bensons’ generosity and deep commitment to community service, the clinic offered care supported by donated time, materials, and professional expertise.
As the demand for services grew, We Care Dental expanded its mission. In 2016, it partnered with Western University of Health Sciences, broadening its reach to serve all members of the community. Today, the clinic boasts state-of-the-art equipment, affordable rates, and nationally recognized faculty. Every patient is treated with respect, compassion, and personalized attention—ensuring their visit is both comfortable and positive.
