Coachella Valley Repertory continues its tradition of bold, engaging storytelling with two unforgettable musical comedies that promise laughter, romance, and a little theatrical magic.
First up is the timeless Broadway classic Guys and Dolls, widely considered one of the greatest musical comedies ever written. Featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, this award-winning favorite has earned Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, and international acclaim. At CVRep, however, audiences can expect a fresh and immersive take as they step into Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City during the Prohibition era. Here, gamblers, nightclub performers, missionaries, and dreamers collide in a world where luck and love are always on the line. Follow smooth-talking Nathan Detroit as he scrambles to finance the biggest illegal craps game in town, while his long-suffering fiancée Adelaide wonders if a fourteen-year engagement will ever lead to marriage. Then high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson enters the mix and sets his sights on the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Sparks fly in this spirited, oddball romance filled with iconic songs and sharp wit.
Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 season, CVRep presents the Coachella Valley premiere of Ernest Shackleton Loves Me, running April 22 through May 10, 2026. This stylish, critically acclaimed musical comedy by Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro delivers a wildly inventive love story across time and space. When a sleep-deprived single mother and video game music composer receives a mysterious phone call from famed polar explorer Ernest Shackleton, stranded on an Antarctic iceberg in the early 1900s, an unexpected connection forms. Through humor, heart, and music, the two inspire one another to persevere against impossible odds in a romance unlike anything you’ve seen before.
The box office is open Wednesday through Saturday, 12- 4PM. For tickets and more information, visit cvrep.org.
