Sun City’s Very Own Country Star Performing at the Sierra Ballroom this Season
The road to Sun City has been an extraordinary journey for Tim Bryant—a road paved with chords, country roots, steel rails, and second chances.
Tim’s love affair with music began at just 12 years old when he taught himself to sing and play guitar. The son of a southern minister, his earliest notes were strummed in church, where faith and melody intertwined. His father’s Sears Silvertone guitar, oversized for a six-year-old’s hands, became his first true companion. Growing up in the South, surrounded by voices steeped in gospel and country, Tim developed an enduring passion for music and the heartfelt storytelling that defines it.
By his twenties, that passion carried him west to Denver, where he founded The Winchester Band. It was the height of the Urban Cowboy era, and the band quickly became one of the most popular acts in the region, filling clubs with their infectious sound and southern soul.
But life has its turns. When challenges called for stability, Tim chose a new path: a career on the railroad. For 37 years, he worked the rails, trading spotlights for steel tracks, though the music within him never truly quieted.
When retirement came, Tim found himself in Sun City, Palm Desert. For him, it was paradise: a place of calm and quiet, yet alive with endless opportunities, such as softball games, golf courses sprawling like emerald ribbons, and neighbors who quickly became friends. With azure skies and golden sunshine, Sun City was everything he had dreamed of.
It was here, during the stillness of the COVID-19 pandemic, that Tim’s music returned. He began playing casually on his patio, guitar in hand, his voice carrying across the fairways. At first, a handful of neighbors gathered on golf carts to listen. Week by week, the crowd grew. On Sunday afternoons, dozens lined the greens as his music streamed live on Facebook. What began as a pastime had become something more: the rebirth of a dream.
The golf course concerts soon outgrew the patio. Today, Tim’s performances fill the grand Sierra Ballroom at Sun City Palm Desert, where his annual shows sell out season after season. On stage, he brings the South to the desert, performing “songs of the South” with soul, authenticity, and heart. His powerful tributes to Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond bring audiences to their feet, while his storytelling and warmth connect him to listeners on a deeply personal level.
For Tim Bryant, life has come full circle. From his father’s Silvertone guitar to Denver clubs, from railroad yards to desert ballrooms, music has always been waiting for him—and now he’s sharing it with fans far and wide.
Today, Tim is not only living his dream, but inspiring others to rediscover theirs. One song at a time, he reminds us that it’s never too late to come home to the music you love.
