Dear Readers,
Our Featured Resident, Bara Rosenheck, finds solace, joy and empowerment within the Sun City Shadow Hills Writers Group. While many of her favorite stories to write are fictional, she has also found writing to be a therapeutic journey about her personal struggles. Years ago Bara suffered from a spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis on the right side of her body and numbness on her left side, ultimately requiring her to relearn how to walk. Her story continues to inspire others to live to the fullest; read more on page 22.
This month also features other amazing members of the community; one is visionary Maria DeRosa who started a group called Ladies of the Kitchen. Her story is on page 9. Another member, Richard Waxman, continues to bring comfort to those in the hospital with his furry 4-legged companion Terry; read more about their visitation program and how you can get involved with Animal Assisted Therapy on page 19.
If you have ever dreamed about being a tour guide and sharing your love for the Desert – now is your chance! Red Jeep Tours are looking for part-time guides starting this fall. You can read more about the amazing tours and opportunities on page 33.
Regards and Happy Reading!
