Step Into the Hilarious World of ‘39 steps’ at CV Rep

This holiday season, prepare for a side-splitting adventure like no other with The 39 Steps, playing at Coachella Valley Repertory from December 11 to 22, 2024. Directed by Jamie Torcellini and written by Patrick Barlow, this Tony® Award and Drama Desk Award-winning comedy delivers a whirlwind of laughs, clever parodies, and thrilling suspense, guaranteed to captivate audiences from start to finish.

The 39 Steps masterfully blends elements from John Buchan’s 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1935 film with the cheeky humor of Monty Python. The plot follows the dashing Richard Hannay, a Canadian on holiday in England, who gets tangled in an espionage plot after meeting a glamorous British spy, Annabella. When Annabella is mysteriously murdered, Hannay becomes a fugitive, on the run from both the police and a sinister spy ring called The 39 Steps. His madcap journey takes him through train chases, high-stakes encounters, and unlikely escapes, including a harrowing plane crash and plenty of romantic entanglements.

Starring a gifted cast of just four actors who bring over 150 characters to life, The 39 Steps is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud spectacle that’s perfect for the whole family. Don’t miss this wildly inventive performance, a true holiday treat packed with thrills and giggles.

Tickets for The 39 Steps and the upcoming 2024-2025 CVRep season, which includes The Light in the Piazza, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Other Desert Cities, are now available. Celebrate the magic of theater with CVRep, where artistry and community come together!
