“Paws & Hearts”

“Paws & Hearts” Animal Assisted Therapy is proud to celebrate its 25th year of serving the Coachella Valley through its beloved Therapy Dog program. We are always looking for amazing two-legged and four-legged volunteers who would enjoy making weekly visits to long-term care facilities, cancer centers, or Alzheimer’s units.

All dogs must be at least one year old, spayed or neutered, current on their vaccinations, and—most importantly— exceptionally friendly and outgoing with total strangers. As for the human volunteers, your role is to be the caring chauffeur—your Canine Ambassador is the real star! The key from our successful volunteers is to be a good listener to the patients that your dog will bring joy to. Please note: all volunteers must be full-time residents—we’re unable to accept seasonal snowbirds.

In addition to our therapy dog program, we also offer a Pet Loss Bereavement Group, which we’ve been hosting for over 10 years. This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at our office. If you or someone you know has recently had to say goodbye to a beloved four-legged family member, we are here to help you through the grieving process.

For more information about our programs, please visit www.pawsandhearts.org or reach out to us at (760) 836-1406. We are located in the Berger Charitable Foundation Building in Palm Desert.
