Leon, who moved his successful insurance business to Palm Desert to be closer to his passion for golf, found himself searching for a top-tier steakhouse to match the desert’s upscale ambiance. After selling his thriving company to Progressive Insurance in 1988 and stepping into retirement, Leon was restless. At 68 years young, he embarked on a new adventure, founding LG’s PRIME Steakhouse to fill the void he saw in the local dining scene. His passion for exceptional cuisine and his commitment to the community transformed this venture into his third successful business story.
Leon’s contributions went far beyond serving exquisite steaks; he brought heart and soul to the desert. In 2004, his legacy was honored when the City of Palm Springs awarded him a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars, right in front of his beloved restaurant. The city also proclaimed July 1st as “LG Day,” a testament to Leon’s tireless efforts and the love he poured into the community. His kindness, his laughter, and his unforgettable presence are still felt today.
