Handi-Bars is in its sixteenth year of operation in the Coachella Valley. Owner/installer Jack Jones started Handi-Bars in 2005 after a successful career as a ceramic tile and stone contractor in Lake Arrowhead, California. After moving to Rancho Mirage with his wife Tamara, a flight attendant for American Airlines, and son Jack, a project manager doing communication contract work for Facebook, Jack Sr. wanted to keep working.
During this time his mother was battling Alzheimer’s and was having trouble with her balance. After installing some grab bars to help her in the shower and toilet area it dawned on Jack that with the aging population in the Coachella Valley there was a need for a business that could help seniors stay on their feet while moving about their homes, be it in the shower, tub, toilet area or anywhere in the home where balance is an issue. So Handi-Bars was born!
Now, sixteen years later, Jack has installed nearly twenty thousand grab bars! He also installs handheld showers, non-slip floors, custom wood railings and other safety related items. Jack does work for At Home Medical, visiting nurses and Eisenhower After Care, as well as helping to retrofit existing boutique hotels. For those who rent out their homes, be it full time or seasonal, having grab bars installed in the bathroom is a welcome sight for your tenant with balance issues.
