El Paseo Golf Cart Parade

The Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade has been a local tradition for nearly six decades, and this year’s 59th edition took the celebration to a whole new level. With the theme “Golf Cart Time Machine,” the streets along El Paseo transformed into a vibrant journey through the past, present, and future. Among the standout participants was JR Thomas Golf Carts, a company rooted in history, innovation, and a love for golf cart craftsmanship.

The Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce, orchestrators of the event, aptly named this year’s parade “Take Me To ‘73,” inviting attendees to relive the glory days of 1973 or imagine the future in 2073. The parade, celebrating Palm Desert’s 50th anniversary as a city, showcased a diverse array of entries, from classic cars to high school bands, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and excitement.

JR Thomas Golf Carts, a proud sponsor of the event, played a significant role in adding a touch of elegance and history to the parade. JR Thomas, accompanied by his wife Cheryl, showcased the legacy of his family’s contribution to the world of custom golf cars. The story begins with JR’s father, Bobby Thomas Sr., a pioneer in the custom golf car business on the West Coast.

Bobby Thomas Sr.’s reputation extended beyond the local community; former Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Gerald Ford, former Vice President Spiro Agnew, and the iconic crooner Frank Sinatra all trusted his craftsmanship. A true trailblazer, Bobby Thomas Sr. crafted golf carts with precision and style, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

As a tribute to his father’s legacy, JR Thomas is now at the helm of the family business, infusing his own charm, philanthropy, and business acumen into the business. JR Thomas, continues the tradition, brought his unique touch to the parade, showcasing a selection of golf carts.
