On another note, we delve into a significant archaeological discovery that took place during the construction of the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza in July of 2018. The unearthing of deeply buried Tribal artifacts prompted an extensive Indigenous archaeology excavation, leading to the most comprehensive data recovery effort in the state of California. Through this work, thousands of artifacts were revealed, shedding new light on the rich history of human habitation in the Coachella Valley and at this sacred site.
