“Some of the truly remarkable aspects of Rancho Mirage are the world class attractions and resources available. The Observatory, Library, and Amphitheatre all host events and concerts, often free to the public”. Steve adds “The Library is a place beyond just checking a book out, there are always activities, performances, and special events like the Rancho Mirage Writers Festival and the Writers Series, and over the years we’ve given almost 9,000 books to attendees”. All these resources and more are enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike. Rancho Mirage offers an impeccable blend of luxury, enrichment, and convenient access to the most exquisite golf, spa, and dining experiences.
One of the most exciting new developments is Cotino, a 618-acre project from DMB Development of Scottsdale and Storyliving by Disney. “Most of the groundwork, utilities and foundational infrastructure is complete, so soon we will start to see it rise up” Steve explains. The much-anticipated community includes private homes, a hotel, a beach club, entertainment, shopping, and dining. It’s all planned to surround a 24-acre lagoon. There will even be a neighborhood specially designed for adults 55 and older.
Steve’s journey to becoming the mayor of Rancho Mirage began with his appointment to the City Council in December of 2021. However, this was not his first foray into public service. He had already spent two years on the Rancho Mirage Planning Commission, rising to the position of Vice-Chair. His time on the commission had granted him a unique perspective on the city’s growth and potential in the years to come.
Steve’s dedication to Rancho Mirage extended beyond the City Council. He had previously served as the President of the Rancho Mirage Country Club Homeowners Association for six years, a testament to his commitment to the community and natural ability to lead.
In his current role as Mayor, alongside four other dedicated council members, Steve is committed to upholding the city’s values. “People know Rancho Mirage for its great reputation. The City is well-managed, responsible to its residents, and has a steadfast commitment to excellence in governance. As mayor, I want to respect and uphold those traditions”. These also include intelligent fiscal management, providing amenities and services for our residents, and thoughtful city planning, which is essential to ensure a prosperous future for Ranch Mirage.
