A New Look at a Very Old Problem

From the California Elder Law Center and Michael J.
McGuire, Elder Law Attorney

Every year seniors across America are asked to state the three most important things to them in retirement and according to Stanford University studies the answers are always the same:

  1. “I want to stay at home…I don’t want to be institutionalized in one of those places;”
  2. “I don’t want to go broke or strip my spouse of every dime of our life savings;” and
  3. “I don’t want to be a burden on my children.”

Yet, 70% of Americans’ estate plans fail to achieve these specific goals!

That’s because 70% of Americans die in institutions, alone, surrounded by strangers. At $11,000 per month for long-term care, many families do go broke and how can a person avoid being a burden on their children, relatives or friends if they have not prepared?

What should you do? Get your questions answered and discover how to
protect yourself and your family. Tune into “Elder Answers” on KNEWS 94.3FM / 970AM Saturdays 10-11am, hosted by Michael McGuire, Elder Law Attorney.
