Beat the Heat Without Wasting Water

August in the Coachella Valley brings seasonal humidity and extreme heat. Find relief from the summer sun without wasting water by visiting these nearby locales within CVWD’s service area:

WATER FUN: Local Pools

Many local resorts and hotels offer day passes to access their pools and spas through resortpass.com.
Some options include:

  • Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villa
  • Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage
  • Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa
  • The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa

Water Areas at Fritz Burns Park & La Quinta Park

Kids can cool off in the parks’ water areas – fun, go-to options for families on hot days.

Oasis Splash Pad at The Living Desert

Access to the splash pad is included with membership or park admission, making it a great place to chill while experiencing desert wildlife.

Palm Desert Aquatic Center

Open to visitors of all ages, the recently renovated, state- of-the-art facility features several pools, water slides, an obstacle course, a splash playground, and more.

DSRT Surf at Desert Willow Golf Resort

Guests can ride the waves or unwind at the pool at this unique surf destination, which opened in July 2026.

Fun fact: DSRT Surf will be a net-zero water user because the destination will convert 23 acres of non-playable golf turf into desert-friendly landscaping, saving more water annually at Desert Willow than the surf lagoon uses.

ESCAPE THE HEAT

Berger Foundation Iceplex

Go ice skating in the same place where the Coachella Valley Firebirds train. Public skating sessions are open to all ages and skill levels.
