Dr. Effuah Harris, Clinical Director of WesternU Health Rancho Mirage (We Care Dental), has built her career around one simple passion: making people smile. With more than four decades of professional experience, she brings both depth of knowledge and a global perspective to her role.
After practicing for 15 years as a general dentist and oral surgeon in Germany, Dr. Harris earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California in 1996. She continued practicing general dentistry for another 15 years before joining Western University of Health Sciences in 2011, where she helped mentor and educate the next generation of dental professionals. In August 2024, Dr. Harris joined We Care Dental, blending her clinical expertise with her dedication to teaching.
We Care Dental operates under WesternU Health, embracing a humanistic philosophy built on two guiding principles: exceptional patient care and quality education. “One of the most extraordinary aspects of We Care Dental isn’t just our name,” Dr. Harris explains. “It represents the entire legacy of compassion and excellence at WesternU Health.”

While procedures may take slightly longer in a student-centered environment, patients benefit from careful oversight by experienced faculty, including Dr. Harris and Assistant Professor Dr. Talal Elkyhat, ensuring every treatment meets the highest professional standards.
Founded in 2009 by Marianne and Russell Benson, We Care Dental began as a non-profit organization serving patients with special needs. As demand grew, the clinic expanded its reach and partnered with Western University of Health Sciences in 2016, allowing it to serve the broader community with advanced technology and highly trained faculty.
