It all began in June of 1991, when Leon Greenberg, soon to be known to many as Restaurateur “LG” set out to combine his passion for entertaining with a simple yet ambitious goal: to bring a truly exceptional steakhouse experience to the Coachella Valley. What started as a personal pursuit quickly became a beloved dining destination.
LG’s PRIME Steakhouse first opened its doors in Palm Desert, nestled inside a charming historic 1948 adobe building along Highway 111. With its warm character, impeccable cuts of PRIME steak, and an atmosphere rooted in hospitality, the restaurant quickly earned both accolades and a loyal following. It wasn’t long before the success inspired expansion.
In December of 1997, LG introduced a second location in Palm Springs, perfectly positioned to capture the vibrant energy of downtown. A standout feature of this location is its inviting patio dining, offering guests the perfect setting to enjoy a memorable meal while taking in scenic views and the lively rhythm of the downtown strip. It’s the ideal place to settle in, savor a steak, and indulge in a bit of classic Palm Springs people-watching.
The third chapter of the LG’s story unfolded in March of 2002 with the opening of the La Quinta location. Situated in the heart of the Coachella Valley’s renowned golf corridor, it quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Its proximity, just two miles, from the world-famous BNP Paribas Open makes it a natural gathering spot for tennis enthusiasts looking to elevate their dining experience.
Today, LG’s legacy continues under the dedicated care of his wife and partner, Gail, along with their family, preserving the tradition, quality, and welcoming spirit that have defined the brand for decades.
