Dane Koch grew up in San Diego, moving to the desert in 2005 with his family and beloved dogs. Initially located in Palm Springs, Dane moved to Palm Desert in 2018 and quickly fell in love with the surroundings and people.

If you have read any of our market updates over the past 2-3 months, we asked our readers to keep an eye on the Fed’s plans to shrink its balance sheet and raise interest rates. The Fed taking action seemed like a forgone conclusion to battle rising inflation (now at levels we haven’t seen in forty years), the question was, and remains, how high and how fast would they take rates?

We all remember “I Love Lucy” and the crazy, funny things she said and did. But one thing she always insisted on was to look cute and sassy while she made us laugh. Friends of the Desert Mountains’ volunteer opportunities can take you to some wild places. Volunteering assists Friends in continuing our Mission, and offers unexpected rewards for those who participate. Apart from the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with working on individual projects, many Friends volunteers (and all of the staff) feel a sense of family that comes naturally with the shared values, exchange of ideas, and respect for each other and the environment that brings us together.

Yesterday, I had a photographer take my pictures. As I was posing, I made comments such as, “I can’t smile showing my teeth because they are ugly.” “I have a horrible profile.” Ultimately my photos disputed my beliefs about my appearance.

Learn for the joy of it! As the outside temperature rises our daily rhythms also change. This is the perfect time to register for an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) course.
