JR Thomas has been in the golf car business since 1977, when he joined his father, Bobby Thomas Sr., and since then he has never looked back. He spent his early years learning how electric golf cars work, and what makes them tick, working under Service Manager, and long-time partner, Shorty Carroll.
When Shorty moved into Sales, JR took over the Service Manager role. After many years of concentrating in the Service Department, JR graduated to Sales. At the time, Electric Car Dist. Inc. was the only golf car dealer in the Coachella Valley, with several lines of products and equipment including Yamaha, Ezgo and Club Car.
JR moved into Fleet Sales, and during that time he was elected President of the Dealer Advisory Council for Club Car. He served for four years, until his father sold the company. Bob Sr. passed, closing a great career out, after 50 years in business. He was a true visionary, and was the first golf car dealer in the Valley.
In 2015, JR Started JR Thomas Golf Cars, Inc. and it has steadily grown to 15 employees. As soon as JR saw the sign go up in front of Alberto’s Restaurant, he quickly ran next door and tied up the building for the next 10 years.
