Dave Herbert, CTC, has been deeply involved in African tourism all his business life, grew up in South Africa, designed & guided overland tours & safaris throughout southern Africa.
Guided safari tours and operated the first ship to ship overland tours from Cape Town to Durban, a distance of 1,200 miles in three & half days, when cruise ships were diverted around the Cape of Good Hope during the years the Suez Canal was closed during a Middle East war.
Developed, built & managed game lodges in remote areas of Botswana, Mozambique & South Africa, established his first USA based tour business, African Travel, Inc in 1976 and now the Founder & CEO of his latest venture: GREAT SAFARIS, LLC the luxury tour operator founded in 2009 operating in southern & east Africa, Morocco, Egypt and the Gulf Emirates.
Dave currently resides in Rancho Mirage, CA and at the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Dave has been Past Chairman of the United States Tour Operators Association, USTOA, and recipient of the South African Tourism Lifetime Achievement Award.
