Desert TheatreWorks, a nonprofit theatre company based in Indio, California, is proud to be celebrating their 10th season which includes Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park (11/4-11/27), Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (12/10-12/22), Nunsense A-Men! (1/13-2/5), Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap (2/10-3/5), Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville (3/10-4/2), The Play That Goes Wrong (4/14-4/30), and The Last Five Years (5/5-5/21).
But DTW is more than just an award-winning theatre company. Desert TheatreWorks is Community Inspired Theatre. Not only do they present entertaining and educational plays and musicals to the members of the Coachella Valley, but they also use actors, designers, technicians, crew and volunteers from the community.
Desert TheatreWorks also has programs for Coachella Valley children and seniors. For the young people DTW has their KidsWorks Summer Musical Theatre Camp and offers an Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). ELOP is a Social Emotional Learning program which provides a safe and nurturing environment for kids to experience the performing arts in a fun and engaging way. With DTW’s ArtsWorks program, they will be getting seniors involved in activities such as staged readings.
Look for Desert TheatreWorks out and about the valley at special events such as the Indio BBQ Festival, the Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade, the Greater Palm Springs Pride Parade, and more.
