Medicare Annual Enrollment

Written by Joanna Gebhart

Annual Enrollment begins on October 15, 2022 and ends on December 7, 2022. During this time certain changes can be made to your existing plan(s). It is advantageous to consult with a local agent to review the choices and/or changes for the upcoming year.

Anyone enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan who is interested in changing to another Advantage plan may do so in the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) with changes effective January 1, 2023. Most Advantage plans include Part D (prescription) plans so changes to an Advantage plan will most often include prescriptions as well.

For those who have a stand-alone Prescription plan (Part D), changes can also be made during the AEP event. It is especially important to review the Annual Notice of Change mailed to you by your provider; those should be arriving in the next few weeks. Included In the ANOC are changes to the plan for 2023. Also included are any changes to the actual prescription coverage, such as a tier change for a specific medication or possibly a change in pharmacy status. There is a possibility that a pharmacy could move in or out of the “preferred pharmacy” status. This is important to monitor as “preferred” pharmacies typically provide better pricing than a “standard” pharmacy.

Please contact me for a no cost no obligation review of your current plan so we can determine if a change for 2023 will be of benefit.
