Every year seniors across America are asked to state the three most important things to them in retirement and according to Stanford University studies the answers are always the same:
- “I want to stay at home…I don’t want to be institutionalized in one of those places;”
- “I don’t want to go broke or strip my spouse of every dime of our life savings;” and
- “I don’t want to be a burden on my children.”
Yet, 70% of Americans’ estate plans fail to achieve these specific goals!
That’s because 70% of Americans die in institutions, alone, surrounded by strangers. At $11,000 per month for long-term care, many families do go broke and how can a person avoid being a burden on their children, relatives or friends if they have not prepared?
